First, well done! That took real work, and it's worth stopping to acknowledge it.
Now the question everyone asks: What happens next?
The honest answer
For most people, reaching a goal weight isn't the end of treatment. It's the point where treatment changes.
Weight Management is treated as a long-term condition, much like high blood pressure. When treatment stops, appetite signals return to where they were before, and weight often follows. That's well documented, it happens to most people, and it isn't a personal failure. It's how the condition behaves.
That doesn't mean you're on the same dose forever. It means the plan changes rather than ends.
What your provider may discuss with you
There isn't one right answer, and the decision is your provider's to make with you.
Staying where you are.
Some people continue at their current dose, particularly if it's working well and side effects are minimal.
Stepping down.
Your provider may reduce your dose to the lowest amount that holds your progress. See What is "microdosing"? for what we can and can't say about this.
Taking a break.
Some people pause. If you're considering this, plan it with your provider rather than simply stopping, especially if your other medications were adjusted as your weight changed.
Stopping.
Some people do stop, and some maintain their weight afterward. Going in with a plan works better than going in without one. See What happens if I stop taking the medication?
What matters regardless of what you choose
The habits are what carry the result.
Protein. Preserving muscle matters more now than it did at the start.
Strength training. The single most useful thing for holding a lower weight.
Sleep and hydration. Both affect appetite more than people expect.
Keep weighing yourself. Not daily, not obsessively, just often enough to notice a trend early. A few pounds is much easier to address than twenty.
When to get back in touch
Message your Care Team if:
Your weight starts trending up and stays up
Your appetite changes noticeably
You stopped and want to talk about restarting
You're not sure whether your plan still fits
Coming back isn't starting over. Your provider has your history, and picking up is usually simpler than beginning from scratch.
Have the conversation before you decide
The most useful thing you can do right now is message your Care Team and ask: What's my plan from here?
Nobody expects you to work that out alone.
