What is "microdosing"?

I've reached my weight goal, now what?

“Microdosing” is a word you will see a lot online. It is not an official medical term, and that is worth knowing up front.

People generally use it to mean staying on a low dose of a GLP-1 medication, often after reaching a weight goal, to help hold it there.

What we can say

• Providers do sometimes reduce a dose deliberately once someone is where they want to be. That is a normal part of ongoing care.

• The goal is usually the lowest dose that still works for you.

There is no standard, agreed “microdose.” What one clinic means by it and what another means can be quite different.

What not to do

Do not cut your own dose to stretch a vial. Splitting doses from a vial is exactly where measuring mistakes happen, and it can leave you on an amount that does nothing at all.

If you have hit your goal and you are wondering what comes next, message your Care Team. “What is my plan from here?” is a great question to ask.
